Located in the Margaux Appellation of the Haut-Médoc, Château Kirwan is named after Irish businessman, Mark Kirwan. In 1926 the Schÿer family purchased the Third Growth and invested heavily in the property. Philippe Delfaut has been the managing director and winemaker of the 45 hectare estate since 2007.

The family are involved in the day to day running of the estates, the philosophy being that the vineyards make the wine and the people are its custodians.

Between them, they have made wines across four different continents. In Alicante they work only with native grapes, and over 95% of their vineyards are dry farmed (no irrigation), and over 80% are grown using an organic approach.
