The climate of the Vidigal vineyards is influenced by their closeness to the Atlantic Ocean. The fresh sea breezes have a cooling effect on the vineyards which helps retain refreshing acidity in the wines. The main red grapes grown are the local Touriga Nacional, Aragonez (Tinta Roriz), Castelão and the international
Syrah and
Cabernet Sauvignon .
For the white grapes, winemakers António Mendes Lopes & António Ventura focus on Fernão Pires, Arinto and Moscatel which allows for a range of finely tuned wines that are fresh and fruity reflecting the regions maritime growing conditions.
