The remote Tolo do Xisto vineyards cling precariously to the steep valley of the Síl river at 500m above sea level. The region is influenced by the Pacific Ocean and enjoys long hot summers, followed by cool Autumns. Tolo do Xisto is solely planted with old-vine Mencía grapes that thrive in the local slate soil.
Winemakers Andrea Obenza and Toni Coca craft Tolo do Xisto using stainless steel and French oak. They strive to retain freshness and minerality in the wine that translates as ‘Mad About Slate’.
