The estate is in the Stellenbosch region of South Africa, which experiences a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and cool wet winters. The white varieties, primarily Chenin-blanc , Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are planted on the cooler slopes of the Simonsberg mountain to retain freshness and acidity. The estate’s black grape varieties, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinotage are planted in the Vera Cruz vineyards, where warmer conditions and lower rainfall contribute to ripe, concentrated grapes. Delheim’s vineyards are sustainably certified and practice precision farming. They also support a number of social and ecological initiatives in Stellenbosch.
Cellarmaster Roelof Lotriet has worked in Europe and South Africa while Delheim winemaker, Nongcebo Langa was named Diners Club Young Winemaker of the Year in 2023.
