Château Phélan Ségur
Château Phélan Ségur
Bordeaux, France

Founded in the late 18th century by Irishman Bernard Phélan in the Left Bank Bordeaux  commune of Saint-Estèphe. The 70 hectare property is now owned by the Gardinier family and managed by Phillppe Van de Vyvere.

Saint-Estèphe is the northernmost appellation in the Médoc, on the Left Bank of the Gironde river. Its close proximity to the Atlantic coast gives it a classic oceanic climate. The estate holds vineyards across four distinct plots, largely on clay-gravel soils. They only grow black grape varieties in their sustainably managed vineyards, primarily  Cabernet Sauvignon  and  Merlot  with a small amount of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

In the winery, the team utilise high-tech optical grape sorting, small format tanks to vinify each parcel separately and high-quality French oak for ageing. This allows Cellar Master Fabrice Bacquey and craft expressive, terroir-driven wines.
